How does Kameo handle my money?
When you deposit money into your Kameo account, it is placed in a protected account at DNB Bank ASA in Norway. This means that your money is separated from Kameo's own funds and protected even if Kameo were to go bankrupt. Each customer has a unique account number linked to their protected account.
When borrowers make a repayment, Kameo's system automatically allocates the correct amount of interest to each investor. This happens automatically for all investors.
Please note that money you transfer to Kameo to invest in loans is not guaranteed or protected. Kameo cannot guarantee that borrowers will be able to repay loans, or that collateral has an actual value that can ensure repayment.
Lender's representative
For all investors in Sweden and Denmark, Kameo acts as a lender's representative in the event of any payment difficulties among borrowers, which means that we handle the process against the borrower.
For Norwegian loan agreements, however, the role of lender representative is with Advokatfirma Kontrakt AS, which handles any payment difficulties and takes a percentage of the capital collected. For loans published before September 1, 2024, Intrum Capital AS was the lender representative for Norwegian loans. Handling of personal data
When you invest through Kameo, you share certain personal information with us. We protect and treat this information carefully, in accordance with GDPR and our Privacy Policy. Borrowers can find out who is investing in their loan, but your identity is not shared with other investors, except when required by law.
If Kameo were to go bankrupt, a designated agent would take over and handle all refunds.
As a financial company, Kameo adheres to strict IT security regulations and conducts regular risk assessments, maintains security plans, and reports to regulators.
Secure management of your Kameo account
When you invest through Kameo, certain information about you and your financial circumstances is stored in your Kameo account. You can access this information by logging in with your password and authentication tool, or BankID.
If you suspect that someone unauthorized has gained access to your password, BankID or authentication tool, please contact us immediately. You can do this by emailing helpdesk@kameo.se (mark the email DATA ABUSE) or by calling our customer service at 010-483 58 80. We will then block your account until we have checked the situation, to protect your data and assets.
Countering money laundering and terrorist financing
To combat money laundering and terrorist financing, Kameo collects and updates customer information regularly. This means that we will ask for certain information when opening an account and during your time as a customer.
Suspicious transactions are always reported to the Financial Police.
